EXCURSION & FIELD STUDY
Fieldwork is an integral component of geographical education, and the Department of Geography at Ananda Chandra College places strong emphasis on experiential learning through departmental excursions and field studies. These activities bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications, offering students invaluable hands-on experience in observing, collecting, and analyzing geographical data.
The department organizes regular excursions to diverse terrains including river basins, coastal regions, mountainous areas, rural settlements, urban landscapes, and ecologically sensitive zones. These field trips are designed in alignment with the academic curriculum and help students gain deeper insights into physical and human geography, environmental processes, land use patterns, socio-economic structures, and GIS applications.
Students are guided by faculty members throughout the planning, execution, and reporting phases of fieldwork, fostering teamwork, research skills, and critical analysis. The knowledge gained from these studies not only enhances classroom understanding but also prepares students for higher studies and professional careers in geography and allied disciplines.
