About

The department was established in 1969 as Life Science. The separate department of Botany was established from 1989 with Honours course having four students and two faculty members. Currently the department spans over approximately 1100 square feet carpet area with Biochemistry, Cytology and Microbiology and Plant Physiology laboratories. The department offers Honours, General Elective and Program courses in Botany under the CBCS curriculum. The department has an in house library and a small herbarium with a repository of about 145 plant species. The department with active participation of faculty and students publish a Bi-annual wall magazine” BOT INFO”, a wonderful medium for self- expression of all members. The current faculty includes three teachers in substantive post and three SACT teachers. Over the years the department has produced successful students who have excelled both in academics and administrative fields.
